resopal-schallware records, known for its persistent pursuit of quality jams, unleashes the playa ep by santo domingo resident ernesto paredano. he’s an artist in the truest sense of the word who creates his own sound, his own expansive dynamic at the same time- the a-side contains the track yuca which features a surge of delayed bass lines and crispy static rises from below and echoes swoop and simmer. the 4/4 structure is infused with far-off blips and the dusty sizzles of low-pitched vocals. on „atea- warm tech keeps the sound organic while the other elements pull together around its weight before culminating. the three tracks on the playa ep could be classified as deep techno, but with enough power, groove and melody to set afire the dancefloor.

rezzett are arguably one of the trilogy tapes goto acts. the london duo has previously released a trio of impressive, off-kilter eps of fuzzy house and techno jams for will bankheads much-loved imprint. happily, zik zak is every bit as essential as their previous material, expertly blurring the boundaries between techno, experimental electronics, and distorted hardcore. while the drowsy-but-sweaty hey hugo all sampled vocal yelps, sweeping chords and clattering percussion is probably the most obviously ear-catching of the four cuts, theres plenty to get excited about elsewhere. check, for example, the intricate electronics and eyes-closed loveliness of the title track, and the fluid melodiousness of opener afyon or, for that matter, the comforting bliss of ep closer noklue.

superb throwback electro sounds of the early noughties on offer here from swiss artist elektrobopacheck, debuting via his self affirming synthesizer music laboratory. this is quite reminiscent of stuff on vitalic s seminal citizen records imprint a while back. highlights being atlantic intertravel and kubusmann calculates which sound similar to the majestic modular tones of japanese telecom or the late night electro funk groove of ride on the waves. sure, he s not trying to re invent the wheel here, but it s all good!

straight out of the ukraine comes io (mulen) aka aleksandr voznichenko, a man whose back catalogue includes releases on labels such as rejected, eklectisch and area remote to name but a few. now he links up with one of paris’ premier labels, run by one of paris’ premier crews – apollonia. with one solid track and a classy remix from danish young gun malin génie, this is another surefire winner from apollonia. ‘to the unknown’ kicks things off with a steady build up. shrouded in a hazy mist it draws you to its understated groove, io turns in a very considered production that evolves at a slow yet utterly gripping pace. the energy levels rise like the tide of the ocean, engulfing you before you know it. io’s dexterity and cunning ability to keep the listener engaged manifests itself here, bomb! on the flip side, malin genie steps in to give ‘to the unknown’ a new lick of paint and what we get is a jazzy, minimal rework with a jaunty skip in its step and a wicked bassline.

nice price deal !!! ephemerals debut on helena treats us to three deep originals, offset by a characteristically storming xdb remix on the flip. molecular and cirrus combine gritty textures, half-heard phrases, pulsing bass and cyclical synth and acid lines into the kind of meditative sound experience familiar to fans of plan b or underground quality – but here, and especially on ammonia, overlaid by the distinctly dubby feel of drizzly afternoons spent at ephemeral s home in the midlands. xdb, true to form, grabs the latter track and sticks on some serious afterburners, setting controls for a revved-up voyage across the surface of some distant planet.

brstl returns with two house cuts from jay l, his second release for the label. started in 2011 as a means to highlight house and techno being produced in bristol, the label watched over by shanti celeste and idle hand’s chris farrell is now into double figures.show me on the a-side is a finely constructed piece of house music aimed at djs and dancers. anyone who saw jays recent boiler room debut will know his musical style, steeped in classic us house, soul and boogie but with a tastefully bumpy uk edge. the b-side blue age is a deeper cut living up to its title, all wistfull piano keys and a subdued bass line. this is jay l and brstl doing what they do best, sending vibes from bristol to the world.

karlsruhe based dj/producer roman muhlschlegel dropped his first musical gems back in 2008. inspired by disco and funk and working from an analogue-heavy studio, the german turns out smooth, deep and groovy house with touch of elegance and slice of grit. for his petra digital/vinyl debut the soul estate label boss has crafted two fresh and original gems in sweet but stinky and hot tea with sugar, both of which are backed by remixes. fellow german peter clamat gets to grips with the opening number whilst amsterdams nachtbraker reworks the title track.

argentinian producer, live act and tech whizkid alexis cabrera is back with a brand new release, a slice of stepping house, laced with minimal aesthetics on fun records, the recently christened label that he set up with fellow argentinian barem. the label emblem may be just an innocent looking balloon, but the contents of this vinyl release are far from lofty and full of hot air, instead grounding the listener through a mix of organic sound and digital dancefloor rhythms.

close to the days of the days, when the maya calendar will come to an end and somthing special is waiting for human beeing, two smart fellas from berlin are contrebuting this happening with the so called popocatepetl ep. popocatepetl is a yet sleeping massive vulcano in mexico, who just recently rumbled to life. it looks like this ep will come up with the same energy and power. four tracks with many statements and diversity and still homogeneous in their substance. to find an own style and esspecialy an own sound is what the two try to push to the fore. if we compare this release to their last successful released track on tonkind schmalwild, we hear this major line, where a transperent empathy is to find. kotelett & zadak, showing on this ep their ability to creat dance music with a certain flow and groove which makes you feel aloof and hot but still laid-back and relaxed. it just shows their own temper and shows us why, this two guys are one of the most beloved djs in berlins underground scene. its their personal spirit what comes up in the music, that makes this release sound so authentic. hopefully people will notice, yet even without any dramatic fireworks, popo has the power to wreak havoc.

as a full-analog studio crack he has produced 5 albums and more than 50 eps with his very own interpretation of techno. his music still has a 90 s ghetto vibe, with as much energy as a punk band, but to make it clear to everyone, it s techno music to its essence. he has just finished new remixes for chicago legends robert armani and dj deeon, as well as for matthew herbert.

cuartero has only been producing since 2011, but in just a few short years he has established himself as a global player in the house world. his dj sets are compelling things full of dynamic grooves, and his bulky, robust productions are just as stand out. they come on labels like desolat, hot creations and knee deep in sound, and always make any floor a sweaty, intense place full of free-moving bodies.

despite delivering a smattering of original nu-disco productions over the years, producer disco tech is probably most famous for his sneaky but relatively faithful reworks of classic funk, soul and disco cuts. here he returns to the re-edit field, reworking more sweet soul and funk jams. waiting on you delivers a slick, floor-friendly take on al green, while devil s work subtly tweaks a mid tempo funk-soul gem, check the suitably slow and dewy-eyed take me as i am.

first time i heard this track out was d.jing with adrian gibson, booker/manager for the london jazz cafe in its hay day in the early 2000s, i thought it was some crazy obscusre early jacksons 45. i had no idea what it was but i liked it and it stuck with me. as my eyes were on 45 s at the time it passed me by until numero group reissued it on their fabulous soul messengers compilation (essential purchase if you don t own). after quite a bit of badgering rob sevier, co-owner of numero group, let this grace my format of choice, so here we are, both sides first outing as a single.

french producer juliano delivers the next ep, entitled * this must be...*, on his own imprint * that place records*. fourth in line on the label, following on from releases from visitors for reworks, mzkbx (aka sacha mambo) and love comedy, the now berlin-based artist gifts his very first ep to the collection. as a dj, juliano has spent the last 13 years honing his craft - first cutting his teeth holding down a residency at l ambassade, and then going on to play all over france and throughout europe. over a decade of digging and spinning has led juliano to develop a refined palette and a knack for finding tunes that make the dance floor bounce. strongly influenced by us house, * panaugust* is a real dance floor killer with its never ending synth. the more emotional * anthem for a friend* is a real tribute, drawing inspiration from chicago and detroit such as the real mess with its special rhythm & blues vibe. finally, cupid mess brings a touch of japanese mood, evoking images of an early-morning rising sun thanks to the classic juno6 sound. julianos ethos is that music should stay fun - preferring to keep things simple, but always real. watch out for this one.

following on from the success of capriatis album self portrait, 4 tracks have been hand selected by some of technos hottest producers. dubfire, coyu, julian jeweil, luigi madonna have each incorporated the same feeling that joseph laid out in his original productions, but have added a unique twist that breathes a new lease of life into the tracks.

goldmin music label founder romain lanteaume alias einka meets detroit minimalism master terrence dixon aka population one for a truly conceptual techno 12-.. terrence dixon is one of our favorite artists and biggest inspiration.. detroitborn artist released his first 12- back in 1994 followed by several quintessential records and 2 epic albums -from the far future- on legendary berlin-based label tresor. terrence is not only a great techno producer who makes subwoofers roar in clubs, he is a man obsessed by a concept, an idea that he s following from the very beginning.. -minimalism- in the reaaaaal sense of the word.. for example, when thousands producers are wondering what s eventually missing in their new track, terrence is rather wondering what s useless, what could be removed and that s definitely what he gets to share on his own -reduction- imprint. after the release of terrence s track -steve austin s mile- on goldmin theme lp, romain got to meet him in detroit during summer 2014. the aim was to make an abstract record that could still be linked to a feeling or a situation.. a1 the edge track is probably a good example as it s designed and built to make you feel like you get closer and closer to the edge while the track is slowly growing until you fall.. can you feel it? :) as for the other tracks, there is also a special idea behind them but we better let you interpret it your way

a defining moment in dance music history was the day that roy davis jr. teamed with vocalist and writer peven everett in 1997 to create this deep, ethereal, soul-music gem that helped launch an entire musical movement known affectionately as speed garage. the live garage mix is the most popular but the other mixes have grown in popularity over time. it is hard to believe that this record is almost 20 years old yet it still sounds as fresh today as it did so long ago. truly a classic that deserves to be celebrated by a new generation of dance music lovers. gabriel play!

nathan melja is the same young frenchman whose debut ep we released under the name melja late last year. since then, he moved to new york and worked at mister hq for a few months, manned the light booth at the mister saturday night and mister sunday parties (djs make the best light guys), and spent most of his time outside that making music. leo draws is the culmination of that music-making, two murky but beautiful tracks centered around vocal samples and one off-kilter number aimed at the dark corners of the dancefloor.

copenhagens music for dreams continues its run of great releases with a tasteful 12 inch from label boss kenneth bager who presents four on-the-money remixes of his single *sunshine stereo* taken from forthcoming album *follow the beat*. currently enjoying heavy rotation on p3 (denmarks answer to radio one), this summery anthem gets makeovers from denmarks jazzbox, greek duo bonnie & klein and from mr bager himself who teams up with napoli-born producer extraordinaire tuccinelli to give us not only a superb extended vocal mix but also an on-fire dub version of the track that is sure to be a future classic both for the balearic brigade and all lovers of funky downtempo dubbed-out weirdness. treading the same territory as the fabulous frankie knuckles hallucinogenic mix of *aint nobody*, this dub is full of tricks, teasing and pleasing the dancefloor and already getting strong support of manchesters moonboots, amnesia legend leo mas and danish dj peter visti. elsewhere jazzbox deliver a great uptempo beach boogie version full of soul and groove making great use of the unmistakeable voice of damon scott, known for his work with storm queen, while bonnie & klein produce a very special percussive jazzy dub mix. the pair are on a roll at the moment and this remix with its warm marimba vibes creates that mediterranean vibe we all love. a real sun-soaked winter warmer, this 12 feels like a knitted sweater in the cold! limited vinyl.

an ep of golden bug on lddlm has been a long-time coming. paths crosses, encounters, similitudes. but it took all of us time to agree on how golden bug should fit into our mortal ethics of fragmentation: we don t want to sound like anybody else, each track on the ep should all sound different. the french but barcelona based producer played our game, anticipating his future and very diverse album with a spook yet catchy 12inch. wild boys was an instant ear-catcher, some proto funk with a very strong vocal by yan wagner that made it sound like duran duran on speedball. it was hard to take it to another level but lord tusk, one of our favourite producers of the emerging -no genre london scene beefs it up, kraftwerk way. its moody as we all are. ik voel je shows the more experimental spaced out side of golden bug, we d call it space rock if we had to. do not neglect l-horloge, it s slow, dark, menacing but it s a real time bomb if tuned correctly.

the duo acid mondays have brought their quirky forms of house and techno to a wealth of respected labels over the years, warp, circus and 2020 vision to name but a few. now, negghead and lex wolf can add guy gerbers forward-thinking rumors to that list, with their humorously-titled tacos per minute ep which looks set to add to the imprints hard-earned reputation as a breeding ground for innovative techno.
